Key ingredients:

  • Khadira (Acacia catechu) is included in mouthwashes and gargles used for gum disease (gingivitis), pain and swelling inside the mouth (stomatitis), sore throat, and mouth ulcers.
  • Neem (Azadirachta indica) cleans the teeth and prevents gums disease. Neem is effective in preventing periodontal disease & dental plaque. It also might reduce the number of bacteria in the mouth that can cause plaque. However, using a mouth rinse containing neem extract for 2 weeks does not appear to reduce plaque or gingivitis.
  • Pudina (Mentha piperita) plays a significant role in alleviating swollen gums, mouth ulcers and toothaches. Pudina fights against tooth decay and bad breath and is widely used in mouth fresheners.
  • Vidanga (Embelia ribes) Vidanga is used for toothache and ulcers of mouth.
  • Piluh (Salvadora persica) inhibits the build-up of dental plaque and is therefore beneficial in the prevention of tooth decay. The herb reduces gum inflammation, prevents gum bleeding, and its astringent property strengthens gums.
  • Udumbara (Ficus glomerate) the bark and leaves is also employed as mouth wash to spongy gums and effective remedy in glandular swelling, abscess, chronic wounds.
  • Babbula (Acacia arabica) Dental plaque. Early research suggests that chewing acacia gum for 10 minutes five times daily for 7 days reduces dental plaque more than sugar-free chewing gum.
  • Dadima (Punica granatum) fruit rind has astringent, antibacterial and antioxidant properties reduces dental plaque.
  • Arimeda (Acacia leucophloea) useful in sores of the mouth, swelling of gums, dental caries, spongy and bleeding gums, pyorrhoea and weak roots of teeth.
  • Tejobati (Zanthoxylum armatum) A well-known herb, famous for its antibacterial property and is used in diseases caused by bacterial fermentation. Its main action is to stop any bacterial invasion.
  • Lavanga (Syzygium aromaticum) Commonly known as clove, has been old age remedy for toothache. Due to presence of katu and tickt rasa it promotes circulation and is regarded as antibacterial. Clove contains an anesthetic chemical compound called eugenol, which numbs nerves and controls pain. The essential oil of Clove is also an antiseptic which helps to eliminate oral bacteria. It also possesses astringent and anti-inflammatory properties that protect gums.
Due to the same property it promotes digestion right from the mouth and also works as mouth freshener and taste promoter. It is also helpful in treating any wounds and cuts in oral cavity and on tongue.
